Your Winterization Checklist
YOUR WINTERIZATION CHECKLIST
Wow! 2020 will go down in history as one of the best years for boating ever! We hope you and your family created many memories in the warm summer sun boating with friends and family.
Now that cold temperatures have arrived we want to make sure that your boat is ready for the winter. Now is the perfect time to get your boat ready for the winter and make sure that the proper services and care have been given. Properly winterizing your boat is the best way to avoid headaches or unwanted surprises this coming spring.
Get your winterization done by a certified technician and not your neighbor. Most likely you just invested a good amount of money into your beautiful boat. Don't fall prey to the temptations to have your neighbor winterize your boat. We have trained and certified technicians that know exactly how to take care of your boat and have it ready to go in the spring.
The Team at Taylor's Boats has put together this checklist so that you know what to look through and check to have a successful winterization.
Winterization Checklist:
Engine - Your engine pulls water from the lake to keep it cool while running. Part of our winterization process includes draining all of the water out of the engine. This ensures that no water is left behind to crack or damage the engine block and components when temperatures drop below freezing. Not only do we drain the residual water out of the engine we also run professional grade environmentally safe antifreeze throughout the entire engine block and cooling system. Our antifreeze also provides protection against rust and corrosion. Your engine block will be happy over the long cold winter months.
Heater Core - If your boat is equipped with a heater system this also needs to be winterized. Similar to the engine, the core of the heater can crack and leak water if not properly winterized. Our team professionally drains heater cores, blows air through the system and also runs antifreeze to protect it against rust and corrosion.
Shower - This is another system that pulls water in from the lake. The shower pump, shower head and hoses can crack due to freezing temperatures. Our team will drain the shower system, blow the shower system dry and run antifreeze through the pump, shower head and hoses.
Ballast Tanks & Systems - Our certified technicians will drain each ballast tank in your boat. Some boat manufactures require antifreeze in the tanks for proper winterization.
Fuel System - We treat every boat we winterize with fuel stabilizer. This is one of the first steps we take while we winterize your boat. Doing this ensures that the fuel stabilizer runs through the entire fuel system. Fuel stabilizer helps keep the integrity of the fuel lasting over the winter months.
Storage - If you keep your boat in a heated garage, we still recommend winterizing your boat. This is a cheap insurance policy for power and gas outages or if a garage door or door were to be left open. The last thing you want is for someone to ride their bike and leave the door wide open and then realize you have a cracked block.
We look forward to seeing you soon! Thank you for being the best customers in the world!
