Malibu Boats Has the Better Ballast System
Ballast is one of the most important parts of wake surf performance, but not all ballast systems are equal.
The Centurion boats Ri245 uses ramfill cavities, but it also relies heavily on ballast bags throughout the boat which means even after burning fuel and filling up the ram oil you still have to wait to fill the ballast bags still leaving fill time. In the walkthrough, Taylor shows ballast bags in the bow, rear compartments, and transom area. Those bags are critical to creating the Centurion surf wave and you can't rely on ram fill alone to get the wave you need in the centurion boat.
The problem is that when ballast bags are full, they consume storage space.
On the Centurion boat, Taylor shows that the bow side storage compartments are occupied by ballast bags, and once those bags are full, the storage space is gone . The rear compartments have the same issue, with ballast bags taking over the storage areas when full.

Taylor describes the Malibu storage as “cavernous”. Taylor literally climbs out from under the seat of the Malibu to show that he fir under the seats and how deep and wide the storage on the malibu is and shows large compartments finished with gel coat and soft grip and nice finishes. He also shows large storage under the consoles, under the rear sun deck, and throughout the entire boat. In the Centurion Ri245, Taylor points out that the storage compartments are finished with a sprayed-in rubber liner, like a cheap truck bed liner with splotches and not well laid. He also points out exposed hoses, wires, nuts, bolts, screws, unfinished pieces, and wiring that could catch on gear, raw fiberglass and overall not great finish work.
In the rear compartment, Taylor shows exposed bolts, screws, hoses, plumbing, and a large aluminum plate, and would not want those rubbing against a ballast bags because with the finish of the centurion those exposed bolts with rub on the ballast bags causing leaks and failure to you ballast system.

For the Malibu Boats 24 MXZ, Taylor shows the fuel burn while adjusting the Power Wedge settings. At wedge one, the Malibu was still under 10 GPH. At wedge two, it was around 11 GPH. At wedge three, it was about 12 GPH. At wedge five, with a massive wave, the Malibu was just over 13 GPH. That is huge compared to the centurion boat and shows that Malibu actually has better fuel efficiency than the centurion boat.
Then at cruising speeds, the Malibu showed about 10 GPH at 20 MPH, just over 12 GPH at 25 MPH, and about 13 GPH at 30 MPH.
